Communist Party of India (Marxist-Leninist) Liberation
Formed on 28 July 1974 when Subrata Dutta (Jauhar) became General Secretary of a reconstituted Central Committee, this faction of the original undivided CPI(ML) came to be called the "anti-Lin Biao" group. After Jauhar's death in 1975, Vinod Mishra led the party through a reorientation that combined underground activity with open mass organisations such as the Indian People's Front, before the party surfaced fully in 1992. Dipankar Bhattacharya has led the party as General Secretary since 1998. It maintains its strongest bases in Bihar (Bhojpur, Siwan, Arrah) and Jharkhand.
